Looking for a job as student assistent? Searching for the opportunity to write a thesis or work on an interesting student research project? Congratulations, you found the appropriate place to start. We are always interested in finding motivated students to support our research and teaching activities.
Note, that the following list is incomplete at the moment and will be extended in the next weeks.
Student assistant for application development
You might have noticed that most of the stuff we do is somehow related to the so called "Semantic Web". Nevertheless, while its an advantage to know something about this topic, its not a precondition to join our team, if you have no or only little experience in this area. Its more important that you enjoy programming and like to learn new approaches with respect to semantic web technologies. In particular, we are searching for people who are familar with Java, C++ or have some experiences with .NET application.

Student research project (Studienarbeit) or Thesis: Weighted Vertex Cover
You love to think about complex problems, instead of struggling with SOA? You like to write a nice and clean piece of code implementing some graph algorithms, instead of modelling an enterprise application? Then we might have some interesting project for you! First, inform you about the weighted vertex cover problem. Your task will be to design an algorithm (probably with a local search approach) that efficiently finds an approximate solution. But, this algorithm should fullfill some additional requirements, making things ... a little bit more complicated. To solve this task (1) you should be able to read some papers related to the topic (2) implement the algorithm in java (this will require some programming skills, if you do not like java, you can also use some script language) (3) write down what you did in pseudocode and english.
