Aim of the project is the optimization of retrieval results in distributed and heterogeneous bibliographical data and full text collections. We will implement a retrieval system which supports the search for economic literature by means of thesaurus concepts.

Joined research programme with the University of Trento in Italy concerned with the development of algorithms and evaluation strategies for enabling an integrated infrastructure for creation, representation, and reasoning with modular ontologies. The cooperation in terms if mutual visits is funded by the DAAD in the VIGONI program.

The goal of this project is to develop and apply new approximate reasoning methods for expressive description logics as a basis for robot reasoning in the web ontology language OWL. The underlying idea of the approach developed in the project is to compute subsumption between concept expressions on the basis of a subset of the non-logical symbols in the theory.

Knowledge Web (KW) is a 4 year Network of Excellence project funded by the European Commission 6th Framework Programme. Supporting the transition process of Ontology technology from Academia to Industry is the main and major goal of Knowledge Web.
