My research focus is to add values to clinical practice. I’m always interested in applying information technology to improve health care in every aspect. - Data mining: designed a novel framework that uses association rule mining to find important but unknown herb combinations from large Chinese medicine databases [3, 8, 16, 21].
- Health utilization: the series of study investigated the utilization patterns in Taiwan from a population view [4] to different patient groups including adolescents [25], pregnant women [18] and severe disease [11]. One series of studies focused on the health utilization by elder population [10]. Another series of studies applied data mining method to analyze patient’s visit patterns[28].
- Disease epidemiology: besides of disease prevalence [14, 15, 22, 27, 31], the series also discovered less known disease relationship [12, 34]
- Pharmacoepidemiology: a series firstly analyzed inappropriate medication among elders, alerted elders’ medication safety issue [17, 19], a series focused on drug comparative effectiveness [24, 26, 29], and another series analyzed the utilization of drugs[1, 20]
- Bibliometric analysis: analyzed the information flow and its resulting scientific production in Taiwan and China [2, 5, 6, 32, 33], the findings would support decision making in research.
- Clinical trials: collaborate with the center of neural regeneration, conducted clinical studies focus on novel therapies [7, 9, 13, 23, 30].
My current project works on data mining and visualization in medical problem solving. Social network analysis and association rule mining methods are used to analyze complex relations between physicians, patients, diseases and prescriptions. |
